About 100 employees went to school to volunteer for a project led by Global Philanthropy and New York Cares, a nonprofit organization.
Building long-term relationships with New York City public schools, dozens of our employees spent a day in the shoes of a school principal.
These have been a challenging few months, not just for Merrill Lynch but for many companies around the financial industry. But our strength as a company suggests any setbacks will be overcome.

Merrill Lynch has developed relationships with several Japanese foster homes and shelters, this holiday's gift campaign enabled our staff to connect with kids living at those homes.
No one would have thought that 2.2 million yen, or about US$19,000, could be raised for charity at a single holiday party. But that’s exactly what MLJS Support groups did this past December.
Public school officials gave Merrill Lynch employees high marks for their service as honorary headmasters in Philadelphia’s Principal for a Day program.
