More than 400 students in São Paulo's public school system gathered with former participants of the Global Classrooms program, undergraduate students, organizers and volunteers, including Merrill Lynch employees, for the third annual conference in Brazil.
The San Diego business community stepped up to the plate in record numbers to support public schools during the city's "Principal for a Day" event.
More than 200 Merrill Lynch employees rolled up their sleeves to paint, weed and refresh playgrounds at public schools in New York City during New York Cares Day in October.
Global Wealth Management employees of Atlanta's Buckhead Complex joined local business professionals, including executives from Coca-Cola, AirTran Airways and the Atlanta Falcons football team, for the city's ninth annual "Principal for a Day" event.
As part of Merrill Lynch's support for recovery efforts following natural disasters in Asia, the Asian Pacific, Black, LGBT, South Asian and Women's professional networks hosted a variety of fund-raising activities to benefit education projects in Myanmar and China.

Hundreds of Miami-Dade County's business and civic leaders took a break from the electoral campaign last month to head to the principal's office, where they learned what it's like to be commander-in-chief of the county's schools.
The New York City superintendent of schools, Joel Klein, told an audience of educators and the civic and business leaders who took part in the 14th annual Principal for a Day program that education should remain a top priority, especially in difficult economic times.

John Thain was one of seven CEOs from major U.S. companies who participated in a meeting on June 6 at the American Red Cross headquarters in Washington, D.C., to discuss China earthquake relief and reconstruction efforts.
